Borage oil for dogs and cats designed to enrich the ration with essential fatty acids, vitamins without preservatives and dyes, of pharmaceutical quality. Borage oil is obtained from the seeds of the Borage plant - Borago officinalis. It is the richest source of nutritionally important GLA - gamma-linolenic acid, included in the group of omega 6 fatty acids. Unsaturated fatty acids are collectively referred to as vitamin F, they are part of phospholipids, which form the building blocks of cell membranes. At the same time, they are the starting materials for the synthesis of vitally important so-called eicosanoids, i.e. substances with the character of tissue hormones that affect the functions and growth of various types of epithelial cells. These substances can have another important role in the regulation of biological functions: secretion of electrolytes in the small intestine, lung epithelium, regulation of sodium excretion by the kidneys and influencing their barrier function and protein transport. They mediate the body's response to immune and allergic reactions. They have an irreplaceable function in the pathophysiology of inflammation and their processes - malignant changes of epithelia. We recommend using: due to its anti-inflammatory effect, as part of the treatment of dermatological diseases, atopic eczema, rheumatism, arthritis, asthma, in case of allergic reactions to animal fats. Considering that gamma-linolenic acid is rarely found in food, Borage oil is an affordable supplement to cover the daily requirement of GLA.
